Day T-2: A senior welcome and square dance

A somewhat new tradition at my school is that the seniors kick off the year by singing a song to the entire school. This year, it was “I’ll Be There for You”, by the Rebrandts, and better known as the theme song of “Friends.”

After that we had the annual opening of school of square dance, which does a great job even the most awkward student into the culture of the school by immersing them in an equally awkward and strange rite of passage. As a parent, one of the things I like most is how much the youngest members of our community enjoy it.
