Day 9: Feynman’s Blocks Analogy for Energy

Thanks to Rob, I’ve got a 7 minute recording of Feynman delivering his famous blocks analogy for energy. It’s a beautiful story, and I had my intro students listen to it for homework last night.

We then came into class and discussed the story, outlining the “block conservation equation” that the mother develops in the story. By the time we were finished, we had created a monster of an equation that everyone realized was actually very simple at heart. This sets us up well to talk about different types of energy tomorrow.
